Also for You

Living Moshiach | June 27, 2025

All opinions agree that the holiday of Shavuos must be “also for you”, meaning that in addition to spiritual observances “for G-d”, we must celebrate with physical delicious food and drink “for you”. On Shavuos we celebrate the Giving of the Torah, which made it possible to combine G-dliness with the physical body of a Jew. At the Giving of the Torah, we became G-d’s Chosen People, which means that our bodies were chosen, and we were given the Mitzvos, by which we make physical things holy. The ultimate revelation of G-dliness in the physical realm will be in the true and complete Redemption through Moshiach, expressed in the fact that we will then enjoy an actual physical feast of the Leviasan fish and wild ox.
