Riddles of the Week
(For answers see inside)
1) The second Rashi in this week’s parsha mentions that there were steps in front of the menorah, why does Rashi in Parshas Tetzveh not also mention this point? How tall was Aharon HaKohen? Was he shorter or the same height as Moshe Rabbeinu?
2) After Aharon HaKohen was commanded to light the menorah, the pasuk says: ויעש כן אהרן – “Aharon did so”. Rashi comments:להגיד שבחו של אהרן שלא שינה – “To teach us the praise of Aharon that he didn’t change”. The obvious question is: What is the novelty that Aharon did as he was told, why would we think otherwise, after all he is the holy Aharon HaKohen?
3) In this week’s parsha we learn that Aharon HaKohen performed tenufah [waving] on all the Leviyim. How long did Aharon have to wave each Levi?
4) Aharon HaKohen managed to wave single handedly 22,000 Leviyim in one day. Where do we find something even more difficult that was achieved in this week’s parsha. Hint: Something to do with Korban Pesach?
