The Story within the Story

About three months ago, Bet Rivkah Seminary students visiting Eretz Yisrael joined an emotional challah bake with Orit Meir, mother of Gaza hostage Almog Meir Jan, where she was given a dollar from the Rebbe.

Every week since the war, Shlucha (Chabad emissary), Mrs. Chana Canterman, Chabad of Talbiya, Jerusalem, organizes a beautiful mega challah bake where a different mother of a hostage comes to join in the mitzvah of hafrashat challah.

There was not a dry eye in the room as Orit Meir spoke emotionally about her son and made the hafrashat challah. There was crying, davening and dancing. The unity was palpable and the simcha was beyond words. During the event, Mrs. Canterman presented a Rebbe dollar to Orit Meir. Her face lit up as she thanked the gathering for bringing back simcha and emunah into her life.

Baruch Hashem, three months later Orit’ son, Almong Meir Jan, was freed.

Another of the hostages rescued was Noa Argamani. Noa Argamani’s father, Yaakov Argamani, received a Rebbe dollar at a special evening held this year on Lag B’Omer, by the Bet Chabad Navot Afka in Tel Aviv headed by Shliach (Chabad emissary), Rabbi Ido HaLevi Rahav.

The dollar was received decades earlier from the Rebbe on the 29th of Iyar, the date when the decision was made to carry out the rescue operation!

May we merit that all the hostages be returned safely with the coming of Moshiach now!
