Shabbos Chol Hamoed Sukkos

Chabad.org Luach | June 27, 2025

Friday night

Kabbalas Shabbos begins with Mizmor LeDovid.

When saying Lechah Dodi, replace the words גם ברנה ובצהלה with גם בשמחה ובצהלה.

Say the regular Shemoneh Esrei for Shabbos, inserting Yaaleh Viyavo. (See below, “Hosafos,” for the laws that apply if you forgot to say Yaaleh Viyavo.)

Say Shalom Aleichem, Eishes Chayil, etc. quietly.

Say the regular Shabbos Kiddush, followed by the berachah of Leisheiv Basukkah.

Regarding dipping the challah into honey during Chol Hamoed, the Rebbe uses the expression meiheichi teisi (meaning that he knows of no reason to do so).

It is customary to use the challah designated for eiruv tavshilin as one of the two challos for lechem mishneh during both the night and day meals, and to eat it during seudah shelishis. (According to our custom that we do not wash for seudah shelishis, it can be eaten during the daytime meal.)

Today’s ushpizin are Yaakov Avinu and the Alter Rebbe.

Shabbos day

We do not shake the lulav today.

For Shacharis, say the regular Shemoneh Esrei for Shabbos, inserting Yaaleh Viyavo. This is followed by the complete Hallel.

We do not do the na’anuim during Hallel.

Hallel is followed by Kaddish Shalem, Shir Shel Yom, LeDovid Hashem Ori, and krias hatorah. We do not say Hoshanos.

Two Sifrei Torah are removed from the aron kodesh. From the first Sefer Torah, we read seven aliyos in the kriah of Vayomer Moshe el Hashem (Ki Sisa 33:12–34:26). The second Sefer Torah is then placed next to the first one, and Chatzi Kaddish is recited. This is followed by hagbah and gelilah of the first Sefer Torah.

From the second Sefer Torah, we read Uvayom Hasheini...Uvayom Hashlishi for Maftir (Pinchas 29:17–22). This is followed by hagbah and gelilah of the second Sefer Torah, after which the haftorah is read (Yechezkel 38:18–39:15).

The final berachah after the haftorah is the one usually said on Shabbos, ending with the words מקדש השבת וישראל והזמנים.

This is followed by Yekum Purkan and Ashrei. The Sefer Torah is returned to the aron kodesh and the chazzan says Chatzi Kaddish. We then daven Musaf.

Say the Musaf for Shalosh Regalim, inserting the additions for Shabbos and Sukkos where appropriate. Where appropriate, replace יום טוב with יום. Insert the paragraphs Uvayom Hasheini...Uvayom Hashlishi.

When saying Kiddush, say all the introductory paragraphs quietly, and only say aloud from Savri maranan and onward.

At Minchah, we read three aliyos in Parshas Vezos Haberachah. Say the regular Shemoneh Esrei for Shabbos, inserting Yaaleh Viyavo. Omit Tzidkas’cha.

Motzoei Shabbos

When davening Maariv, insert Atah Chonantanu and Yaaleh Viyavo. After Shemonah Esrei, omit Viyhi Noam and Ve’atah Kadosh.

Make havdalah in the sukkah, along with besamim and a candle, as on every motzoei Shabbos. After the berachah of Hamavdil, add Leisheiv Basukkah.

Say Viyiten Lecha quietly.
