Other Sefirah, and due to this lack of unity, they were only able to form a small number of substandard spiritual vessels which themselves were not equipped to contain the great number and superior quality of the supernal lights and they thus ‘collapsed’, causing an event called the ‘breakup of the vessels’ referred to as ‘Shviras Hakeilim’. When the two hundred and eighty-eight holy sparks of the lights of Tohu fell below into the Klipah, thus forming the admixture of good and bad, Klipas Noggah came into being, which includes anything which can be utilised for serving either good or bad. As mentioned earlier this was not a mistake but a system inherent to creation.

Higher level: Having refined these sparks that are found within the inorganic, vegetative, and living domains, and having drawn Divine energy upon them from their lofty source in Tohu, man in turn is then further invigorated by them with an additional measure of spiritual vitality.

Alter Rebbe: Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, founder and first Rebbe of Chabad, 1745-1813. was a direct descendant of the MaHaRaL of Prague. He was a prominent (and the youngest) disciple of Rabbi Dovber the Maggid of Mezeritch, who was in turn the successor of the Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Chassidic Judaism. The Alter Rebbe’s sons were: Dovber Schneuri, (who eventually succeeded him), Chaim Avraham, and Moshe, and his daughters were Freida, Devorah Leah and Rochel. He is the author of Shulchan Oruch HoRav, and the Tanya. He delivered Maamorim that were then published in Likkutei Torah, Torah Ohr and Maamorei Admur HaZoken.

Explains the Possuk: וַיְּהִי בְּשַלַח פַרְּ עֹּה אֶת־הָעָם that was translated above as: “And it was when Pharaoh sent out the Jewish people”.
