A Poor Man is Exempt From Gehenim:
The Mishmeres Shalom of Koidenov zy”a (quoted in Sefer Shem Aharon, page 11) related the following story:
After the passing of a relative of Rav Mordechai, the nifter was brought before the Heavenly Court for his final judgment. He told them, “My entire life, I never did anything without first getting the approval of the Lechovitcher Rebbe. I want him to be my judge.”
His request was granted and Rav Mordechai was made the judge. He ruled, “He does not deserve to go to Gehenim because Chazal say (Yevamos 102B) that a poor man is exempt from Gehenim and he was poor. I rule that he should be given a place in Gan Eden.”
