Emunah is a Segulah for a Long Life:
The zechus of bitachon grants a person a long life. It is related that an old man once came to the Tiferes Shlomo and gave him a kvitel. The old man said, “Rebbe, I have emunah in Hashem and in tzadikim.”
The Rebbe replied, “That’s why you were granted a long life, as is stated: (Chavakuk 2:4): ‘A tzadik lives with his emunah.’”
To this end, the Kotzker Rebbe zy”a would explain the words “ha’aderes v’ha’emunah l’chai olamim” (strength and belief is to the One who lives forever) to mean that when one is strong in his emunah, he will live long.
