Not only is every mitzvah greatly valued in Shomayim, so is every preparation one makes to do a mitzvah. It is related that Rav Yitzchok of Vorka zy"a once went outside to recite Kiddush Levana, with his chasidim trailing after him. It was wintertime and the moon was covered by clouds, and the Rebbe waited for quite some time until it was visible so he could say the bracha.
The Rebbe saw that the chasidim were freezing and it was hard for them to wait. He told them, "The Mishnah says that mitzvah gorerers mitzvah. This can be translated to mean that if a mitzvah is goreres – it 'shleps', i.e., takes a long time – then the waiting is also a mitzvah."
