On one occasion when the Chofetz Chaim zt'l was in Warsaw, someone asked him if he was a chasid or a misnaged. He answered, "I am neither. I am just a Jew who tries to fulfill what is written in Shulchan Aruch!" The Chofetz Chaim added, "Chazal say (Shabbos 32A) that when a person ascends to the World of Truth, they ask him if he set aside time to study Torah and if he did business honestly. They do not say anywhere that one will be asked if he was a chasid or a misnaged. We see that those are the main things."
