Relaxing and Having Hashem Unshackles You from Your Dependence on People

Bitachon Weekly | December 31, 2025

My Bitachon Weekly can sometimes be a load on my head. I once asked someone for a Bracha that it should be smooth and easy and full of Hatzlacha: כ ִמ ִל ִה ִד ִד ִצ ִים in all aspects (I am Machshiv people’s Brachos very much, and they truly work). But he refused to give me a Bracha, saying that he isn’t worthy. So I said to myself: Now, surely I’ll be double Matzliach, since I suffered the Tza'ar of not getting his Bracha.

Or else I can say that since he’s not giving me a Bracha, I’ll ask Hashem directly for a Bracha, and my success will surely skyrocket. Just as a Dayan isn’t allowed to be afraid of people, and shouldn’t be Nis'pael and show favoritism, so a person in general shouldn’t be: גוֹסר ִ (pay attention to) human beings too much, and worry about their Brachos and favors.

He knows that he has Hashem, and therefore people don’t really count. (Yet we need to respect them, of course, and it’s no: ת ִס ִיר ִהִ contradiction). Hashem wants people to be relaxed & happy. Your fear & appreciation of people often gets out of hand. This is why so many of us become a “bundle of nerves”, and can even need medication for anxiety.

The Mon Mentality: The More Relaxed You Are, The More You Get

Some people, like the Kapitchnizer Rebbe Zatzal, wouldn’t go to sleep if they hadn’t emptied their pockets to give Tzedaka. They were calm, and they knew that tomorrow Hashem would give them more money to give to Tzedaka.

The Lithuanian Jews were extreme Baalei Chesed. They would beg travelers to eat by them, and even go to the trains to ask if anyone needs a place to eat. When the Nazis, Y'mach Sh'mam, started invading their towns, they had almost no food in their homes, yet they kept inviting guests to eat by them.

Gevaldige Story

This is called Bitachon and Hefkeirus, where you give whatever you have, with no worry about tomorrow! A friend of mine had to build out his house, since his large family was growing. He needed approximately $100,000. But being in Kollel for 20 years, he had no idea how he’d get the money.

I told him to be reckless in getting everything he needed to build out his house, without being stingy to himself. He should also do things calmly and with a Ruach Bitachon. He had Nisei Nissim, with money coming from unexpected sources and every penny was quickly paid for.
