Moshe Rabbeinu predicted that dreadful events will occur to the Jewish people if they choose to disregard HaShem’s will. This group of curses was particularly long, 98 in total, double the 49 curses recorded in Parshas Bechukosai.
“Fortunately, not all is bad,” noted Dr. Uri Umglick, expert of misfortune. “At the end of the Tochachah, a.k.a. 'curses,' our loving leader reminded us of HaShem’s kindness, particularly how He takes such good care of us here during our 40-year journey in the desert – He feeds us Mann from heaven, and even our clothes and shoes don’t wear out!”
