Recently in Namibia, a country in Southern Africa along the Atlantic Ocean, in an impressive event, a brit mila (circumcision) was held for the son of the shluchim (Chabad emissaries) Rabbi Yosef and Mushka Rahimi of Chabad of Namibia.
An event like this was not seen in the country for decades, with Eliyahu’s chair locally made and decorated. The mohel (circumciser) was flown in from the neighboring country of South Africa.
During the course of the event, the Rabbi blessed one of the local Jews, who only discovered he was Jewish a few months ago, that he should be zoche (that he should merit) to have a brit mila, despite his age of 72.
The mohel, who is also a doctor, spoke to the man for several minutes about the importance of having a circumcision.
During the seudat mitzvah (celebratory meal after the brit mila), the Jew decided to have a brit and was given one by the mohel that day in one of the rooms of the Chabad House!
The Jewish heart awakens, no matter what age.
