The Moment of Truth

Moses was very upset. He knew that what Korach was doing was wrong - and he was also leading hundreds of people astray. Something had to be done.

"G-d!" Moses cried out. "You know that I have been a fair leader. I have never let power go to my head, and I've never taken advantage of my position. What more can I do?"

Then Moses went back to Korach and his followers and said, "Don't forget to come to the Tabernacle tomorrow, with your pans of incense."

That night, Korach was very busy. He went from tent to tent, trying to win more people over.

"I am doing this for each and every one of you!" he said. "It's only right that we have the privilege of bringing incense, just like the High Priest. Join me! You won't be sorry!"

First thing in the morning, Korach and his group showed up at the Tabernacle, each one carrying a pan of incense.

The rest of the Jewish people gathered around to watch. By this time, they were all completely confused! They had heard so many of Korach's speeches that they were beginning to think he might be telling the truth. Maybe all of the Jews were indeed supposed to take part in the service of the priests! Was Korach right? Or was Moses?
