the mitzvos of the Torah, but rather the stories of Avraham and Yitzchak, etc., which preceded the Giving of the Torah – מִּצְוֹת הַת וֹרָה , רַ ק פ ָרָ ש ַת אַבְרָהָם ו פָרָ ש ַת יִּצְחָק כוּ ' – ש ֶהֵם קוֹדֶם הַת וֹרָה ,
for it is specifically them that drew down the necessary preparatory Lights that there should be the Giving of the Torah in the physical world. וְהֵם הֵם ש ֶהִּמְש ִּיכו לִּהְיוֹת ב ְחִּינַת הַת וֹרָה כוּ'. :
However, based on this we must understand why the Jewish People did not merit to receive the Torah until after they were in exile in Mitzraim (Egypt), about which it states, (Shemos 1:14) “and they embittered their lives with mortar and bricks...”? ןיִּבָהְל ךיִּרָצ הֶז יִּפְל: מַד ו עַ לֹא זָכו יִּש ְ רָ אֵל לְקַב ֵל הַת וֹרָה עַד ש ֶהָיו ב ְגָלו ת מִּ צְרַ יִּם , "וַיְמָרֲרו ]. .[ ב ְחוֹ מֶר ו בִּלְבֵנִּים" (ש ְ מוֹת א, יד) ,
Did they not already merit receiving the Torah through the spiritual accomplishments of the Forefathers? הֲלֹא כ ְבָר זָכו עַל יְדֵי אָבוֹת ?
Also, how was Avraham able to affect all of the Unifications Above prior to his Milah, since the mitzvah of Milah was given to him only afterwards, when he was 99 years old? וְגַם : לָ כ תֹו שֲעַל לֹוכָי הָיָה ךיֵא לֹו מיִּ נֶ ש םֶדֹוק םיִּד וחִּ יַה ,כ ִּי הַמ ִּיל ָה ךָ כ רַחַא ֹול הָנְ תיִּנ– כ ְש ֶהָיָה ב ֶן צ"ט ש ָנָה.
The command to Avraham of “Lech Lecha,” that his Lofty Wisdom should descend into Malchus and into this physical world, happened when he was 75 years old. However, the Mitzvah of Milah was only given when he was 99 years old.
(מִּ כ ָאן ךָליֵאָו הו א הַב ֵיאו ר עַ ל הַמ ַאֲמָ ר ש ֶנ ֶאֱמַ ר ב ְיוֹ ם ב' פ ָרָ ש ַ ת ָרֵ יַוא יב מַרְ חֶש ְוָן תקס"ז – עַל פ ִּי הֲנָחַ ת הָרַ "פ .נו סְחָאוֹ ת אֲחֵרוֹ ת מֵהַב ֵיאו ר – הַנ ָחוֹ ת אַדְ מו ר"הָאֶמְ צָעִּ י וְרַ ב ִּ י מֹש ֶ ה – נִּסְמְנו לְעֵיל הֶעָרָ ה 1 .)
