This Yid experienced so much pain and suffering... he was barely alive. But due to his pleasure that his neshamah was so close to the Ribbono shel Olam, he felt, “I may have endured ruthless beatings, but I had such closeness to Hashem. The suffering is worth it.”
Yiddishkeit is designed so that every Yid should be capable of emitting such a statement. If a Yid felt the kirvas Elokim that the Ribbono shel Olam has placed into Torah, tefillah, emunah, bitachon, and yiras Shamayim, he would remain steadfast despite all the forces in the world that threaten to swallow him whole. In every challenge, he would be capable of saying, “It was worth it! I will never abandon the Ribbono shel Olam—because the pleasure of kirvas Elokim is far greater and stronger than them all. If this is the price that I must pay for my closeness, I accept it wholeheartedly!”
