Let’s Break Out of Our Narrow Worldview

Havineini | June 27, 2025

When it comes to the matter of giving thanks to Hashem, we must be able to leave the confines of our narrow understanding and begin to thank Him for the big things.

A person sits in his narrow box, and he thanks for the good that happened for him that day. He can’t think of anything farther than the kindness that was done for him in the last few hours.

And we tell him: It’s time to leave your narrow box! Don’t give thanks only for the small things! Give והודאָה שבח for the Torah that we were given! Even for the privilege of doing one mitzvah, a person is the most fortunate person in the world—how much more so when a person merits to do many mitzvos... how great must be his joy and his praise!
