Nora'im. R' Ahron’s Bitachon and fearlessness of people, his Middas HaEmes, his uncompromising “extremism” for Yiddishkeit, and love for Torah; are familiar concepts in Novardok.
Also, R' Ahron’s disregard for Gashmiyus. I once heard a story where R' Ahron ate his food in a non-conventional way, but it was done in private. The Gadol HaDor (R' Ahron) didn’t do weird things in public, since his “Kavod HaTorah” is Kodesh Kodashim. But Novardokers could do this in public when they felt they had too much fear of people around them. When a Novardoker feels tension, he makes sure to do a “Prat” to break his fear of a Basar V'dam (which is considered a form of Avoda Zara).
I once heard a story about the Pshevorsker Rebbe of Antwerp who told someone who didn’t have a passport to take along a Zemiros booklet to the airport and not to worry. Sure enough, they stamped his Zemiros and they didn’t Chap that it wasn’t a passport! This may be a hard story to believe, but about a year and a half ago I was sitting in Bais Medrash Bnei Boruch learning, and someone came over to me and showed me the Zemiros with the stamp on it!
Although R' Ahron was known to be very Emes’dik, I was told that he once told someone to be Emes, but not a fool. You have to have Sechel and know when you have a right to be a Chevra’man; like Yaakov Avinu who was famous for Emes, yet he described himself as a “brother” to tricky Lavan when it came to trickery.
