Following what was explained that everyone must give of his talents for Hashem, as the skilled women spun the coverings from the backs of the goats ...
...Similarly is also regarding Jews who came from oppressive and difficult countries, amongst whom there are many who, when they were there, they were involved in spreading the fountains of Chassidus with mesiras nefesh, and after that when they came to free society and prosperous lands, where there are no obstacles to fulfill Torah and mitzvos openly – they don’t find the time to get involved in disseminating the fountains of Chassidus!
For “business” he has time; to read the paper he has time etc. but when it comes to disseminating the fountains of Chassidus – he finds no time! He is very affluent, and for him is sufficient that his representative should tell a third person to be involved in disseminating the fountains of Chassidus – for him this is enough... but that he himself should be involved in disseminating the fountains of Chassidus – he doesn’t feel that he came here for this!
One must know that he didn’t come to a free country for his personal benefit. The purpose was so that he should enhance the dwelling place for Hashem, with a simple calculation: If he was there in those oppressive countries and he fulfilled Torah and mitzvos under difficulty and poverty, how much more so that he should fulfill it in prosperity and wealth. He should know that the purpose why he came out of there, is to be involved in disseminating the fountains of Chassidus even more than when he was there.
And this is the lesson from making the coverings from the goats (discussed earlier in the Sicha) he must know that everything that Hashem gives him is for the intention to make for Him a dwelling place, as the well known story of the Chasid of the Alter Rebbe (printed in HaTomim) that when he earned in his business an unusually high profit, he knew with certainty that those earnings were not for him personally, but that right away will come the emissary of the Rebbe and he will give the money for the Rebbe – he knows that if he had extra profit, he certainly needs to give it for the Rebbe.
- There is an emissary of the Rebbe my father-in-law who is inside every Chasid of his, and he prompts him - and if he doses off, he comes to him in his dream - and he demands of him: What have you done today, yesterday and the day before towards disseminating the fountains of Chassidus!
We must know that everything that Hashem gives is for making a dwelling place for Him, but being that Hashem is kind and good, so from Hashem’s goodness also comes down for a person to have personal benefit, that by giving a part for Hashem for holy things, the person also benefits – but the main thing is that he gives for holy matters; as the Midrash says (Shemos Rabba beg. Parsha 35) that gold was created for the Beis HaMikdash - but from the “leftovers” the rest of the world benefits. (Shabbos Parshas Vayakel 5736)
