This week’s Torah portion discusses the division of the Land of Israel among the tribes, which was done through lots. There was a miracle that the lots actually spoke! The lots were “just” a means for the division and settling of the Land, but they were also important. G-d commanded that the division of the Land be only through the lots – so even the proof that it was true and the publicizing of it had to be through the lots themselves speaking. In holiness, and in a Jew’s life, every detail is important, even things that are a preparation for something else. Be totally involved in the preparation while you are doing it, don’t rush through it. Then the thing you are preparing for will also be done in the best way!
