Bitachon and Emuna in Daily Life

Bitachon Weekly | June 25, 2025

Rabeinu Yonah in Mishlei says:

בְּכָל דְ רָכֶּיךָ דָעֵּהוּ משלי ג ו means that you should have Bitachon even for the tiny details of your life. Since such a person recognizes Hashem’s involvement even in such minute parts of his life, he can be Patur (free) from the worst Yissurim (like when he considers bad weather or minor nuisances Yissurim, and he is M'kabel (accepts) them with Ahava (love)!).

A Person Can Always Rejuvenate and Blossom with New Kochos

We can also say that שָׁמוֹר אֶּת חֹדֶּשׁ הָאָבִיב also means that we should remember that just like the world gets rejuvenated in the spring, so can a person always change and become a totally new person with amazing new Kochos that he never had in his life! So remember the “אָבִיב” side of you, and blossom with new ideas in Avodas Hashem!

Chesed Needs to Be Done with Your Heart

If a person sends away his Eved in a nice way with loads of generous presents to raise his self-esteem and improve his reputation (Ibn Ezra, Rabeinu B’chayei) then Hashem will give a Bracha in all that he does. But: לֹא יִקְשֶּׁה בְעֵּינֶּךָ “it shall not seem difficult to you” means that it should be done without difficulty and kvetching.

When a person does a Chesed with his whole heart, then it’s a totally different Chesed, and he deserves a big Bracha, like the Orchos Tzaddikim says that when you do a Mitzva B'simcha you get 1,000x more Schar. Here we can suggest that the reason he gets such a big Bracha is because he believes in the words of Chazal who say: כָל הַמְרַחֵּם עַל הַבְרִ יוֹת, מְרַחֲמִין עָלָיו מִן הַשָמַיִם (Shabbos 151b) – One who has Rachmanus on Hashem’s creatures, is himself given Rachmanus from Shamayim.

For The Blessings of The Torah to Happen, You Need to Believe in Them

I know people who do loads of Chesed, yet they have all kinds of suffering. Perhaps they need to have Emuna in Chazal. I knew a Yungerman who was a big Baal Chesed and he was very successful. He told me that he sees openly, that whenever he does a Chesed, Hashem pays him back.

Working on Patience Is Essential and It’s All Worth It

However, it may take a while to see the fruits of your labor. Hashem made this world for the human who needs to always work on patience. R' Zundel of Salant Zatzal said: כָל עַכָבָה לְטוֹבָה – Every setback is L'tovah. Being held back, being delayed, is actually a Tova. When you are M'kabel (accept) Yissurim B’ahavah, it brings Yeshuos, and being delayed is considered Yissurim.

A person should realize that this is the way the world was created. וַיְהִי עֶּרֶּב וַיְהִי בֹקֶּר – First it’s dark, and then it's light. All those issues that you daven overtime that they should go away will disappear if you have patience and you understand that it’s like taking a dive in the pool. First you bend down, and then you take a jump. The further down you go, the higher the jump. Look how Avraham Avinu had to wait 100 years for Yitzchok, and look how it was all worth it. It’s an important Avoda to respect all those delays as being a test Min HaShamayim, to help us grow in Menucha and Savlanus. This is extremely essential, and those who work on it are perhaps being: מְתַקֵּן (repairing the) Chet HaEigel, which was caused by impatience.

Yet, I would venture to say that if a person is a real Tamim, then he can have quick Yeshuos every time he does a Chesed, if he really believes that he will.
