It is interesting that all those small creatures that creep on the ground are the most disgusting and repulsive creatures in the universe. Perhaps this is a message for mankind to keep away from: אַ רְ צִ יוּת earthliness and Ta’avos Olam HaZeh. Although we need Olam HaZeh in many ways, like eating and sleeping, etc., a person needs to know that basically Olam HaZeh is not the true fun of the: בְרִ יאָה world.
Those ugly bugs and “eckl’dik” (repulsive) creatures who live closest to the: אָרֶץ ground remain a symbol of the true nature of the: אָרֶץ ground. A clear message: Don’t put your main focus in looking downward in Olam HaZeh, since its true nature is ugliness. If you need an injection to remind you about the truth of Olam HaZeh, look at the bugs and worms and centipedes, the scorpions and cockroaches and caterpillars, and keep getting nauseated.
They are your “Rabbeim” who reveal to you the true colors of Olam HaZeh; the Olam HaZeh which the Yetzer Hara pushes you to focus your energies, e.g., those beautiful unnecessary clothing and homes, all those extra material possessions, and all the Kin'ah, Ta'ava, and Kavod that you love so much. Those ugly ants and creepy creatures that thrive on the earth itself will remind you to “bug off” and aim upwards!
