Connecting to Hashem Through Tehillim:
The Shlah Hakadosh writes (Inyanei Tefillah V’Sefer Torah, page 84): “Whoever desires to connect to Hashem should connect himself to Sefer Tehillim.”
Sefer Reishis Chochmah (Shaar Ha’Ahavah 10:29 and on) writes that Tehillim arouses love between Hashem and Klal Yisroel. He compares this to a human king who hears his servant praising him and saying how great he is. Of course, the king will love him and will want to help him. So too, when Hashem sees a person saying Tehillim and expressing his love and praise of Hashem, He will love that person as well.
He uses this idea to explain the verse (Tehillim 33:1): “Raninu tzadikim ba’Hashem.” (Tzadikim praise with Hashem.) When tzadikim praise, they are “with Hashem” – they are fully connected to Him.
