And of course, we remember how Yosef said that even his father and mother were bowing down to him, and he allowed all his big brothers to actually bow down to him in Mitzrayim (what happened to the Halacha of being M'chabed an older brother?). And his father also ended up bowing down to him, and he didn’t object!
And his father was the: בְּ חִּ יר שֶׁ בְּ אָ בוֹת greatest of all three Avos, besides being his beloved: וְּיִּשְּ רָאֵל אָהַב אֶת יוֹסֵף מִּכָל בָנָיו לז ג Yosef who was his father’s favorite. Also, notice how Rivka runs the show going against Yitzchok and making Yaakov get the Brachos, and Sara goes against Avraham, and Hashem agrees with her, as it says: שְּׁמַע בְּקוֹלָהּ וירא כא יב “Do everything that Sara tells you”. Chazal say הּלָ עֱ ן בַ צוֹה רְּ שָ עוֹה הָ רָ שֵׁ ה כְּ שָׁ אִּ יאהִּ וֹ יזאֵ Who is a good woman? One who follows the will of her husband. And there is no question that they were M'kayem this Chazal more than any women in the world.
Tz'niyus Doesn’t Only Mean in Dress; It Means Acting with Humility and Refinement
Both Sara and Rivka were known for Tz'niyus. By Sara it says: הִּנֵה בָאֹּהֶל she is concealed (in the tent), and by Rivka it says: וַתִּקַח הַצָעִּיף וַתִּתְּכָס חיי שרה כד סה she took the veil and covered herself. She was in awe of her great husband (also she was 3 and he was 40) and when she saw him, she fell from the camel. Tz'niyus doesn’t only mean in dress; it means acting with humility and refinement.
These people were also M'kayem Chazal of: כָל אֶחָד וְּאֶחָד חַיָב לוֹמַר בִּשְּׁבִּילִּי נִּבְּרָא הָעוֹלָם סנהדרין לז א every person is obligated to say: “the entire universe was created just for me”. Therefore they had tremendous Chashivus for their very selves, which answers a lot of questions. Notice how Avrohom Avinu who said: וְּאָנֹּכִּי עָפָר וָאֵפֶר וירא יח כז I am like dust and ashes, also had to be told: בְּךָ חוֹתְּמִּין “we conclude (the first Bracha of Shmoneh Esrei) with YOU”; you are the best! (Gemara).
And Ahron, who was: חַ מֵ שָ בִּגְּדוּלַת אָחִּיו happy with his brother’s good fortune, had to be told שֶׁלְּךָ גְּדוֹלָה מִּשֶׁלָהֶן “Your portion is better than theirs”. He had to be superior!
Although Chazal look down at a: דַל גֵאֶה penniless Baal Ga'ava (a nobody who thinks he owns the world); sometimes it is Davka warranted, and it can be a #1 Ma'ala. All these people were M'kayem the first Tur: הֱוֵי עַז כַנָמֵר לַעֲשוֹת רְּ צוֹן אָבִּיךָ שֶׁבַשָמָיִּם
I may be a simple person, but I try my best and I am Chashuv in my own way
