Ignoring the Obstacles
Do Your Part
This chizuk applies on many levels. One is as follows: There are many people who, because one aspect of their avodas Hashem isn’t in order, neglect other aspects of their avodah. They tell themselves that the sefarim say that if a person is lacking in this area, this negates other things as well—and thus they are discouraged and demoralized. And they begin to suffer in their avodah more and more.... But the truth is that a person must carry on in all his spiritual affairs as though he was successful in everything—even the areas in which he has yet to be helped—knowing that if he will do everything that he can do, Hashem will fill in the rest for him.
There is much ga’avah and depression in a person who says, “If things look this way already, then I don’t care about anything anymore.... I give up.” No! You must continue on... you must fulfill your part of הבא ליטהר, and from Above they will assist you. When you’re davening for a spiritual yeshuah, you must have a calm demeanor. Although you’re broken on the inside because you need such a great yeshuah, together with this you are joyful—secure in the knowledge that Hashem will do His part.
