When it comes to bitachon in Hashem in areas of gashmiyus, there is always the question and the doubt: “Who says that Hashem wants me to have this? Who said that He wants me to live with this much breadth? Perhaps the Ribbono shel Olam wants me to live with less, and feel more dependent on Him....” A person must have bitachon in Hashem in the general sense that Hashem will provide for his needs—but we aren’t told the details of how and what we will receive.

When it comes to teshuvah, however, there is no doubt whatsoever that Hashem wants us to return to Him, and it is certain beyond the shadow of a doubt that He will assist us in this endeavor.
