Excitement than the Roman parties then. Rather, he was saying (perhaps) that the same excitement and enjoyment that the wicked have today in their frivolity, the same (and more) excitement and enjoyment will be experienced by the עושי רצונו in their holy pursuits.
But, undoubtedly, it is a different kind of indulgence and a different kind of pleasure.
This, then, is why there is no logical argument that will convince the wise man (or the bochur, or me and you) to choose the King. Because what he will ultimately come to experience (דכלהו מתחלפין ומלכא אינו מתחלף) will be a completely new type of pleasure and enjoyment that he cannot relate with in his current state.
Therefore, even the motivation to strive for this ultimate pleasure and anticipate it is only the result of the bond of the neshomo with Hashem permeating the faculties of the person.
I think part of the message of all of this (besides the obvious refocussing on choosing the King) is – as we are in the era of Moshiach – and especially as we are preparing for Yud Aleph Nissan, we need to expect of ourselves to identify with the Moshiach’dige pleasures and enjoyments.
Now is the time of לעושי רצונו על אחת כמה וכמה, - the pleasure that people in the world have found in all of the superficial pursuits of the world has to pale in comparison to the pleasure that we all have to be able to experience in our G-dly pursuits. As the Rambam writes about the era of Moshiach: "וכל המעדנים מצויים כעפר", - the various pleasurable pursuits are still in existence in abundance, but the appeal that they hold for us is equivalent to dirt, because our sole excitement is in learning Torah and connecting to Hashem.
As we enter our last few days of preparation to Yud Aleph Nissan, of thinking about how to strengthen our hiskashrus to the Rebbe, we need to all focus on this. Genuine hiskashrus is taking a step away from ourselves and our world, and entering the world of the Rebbe. And the world of the Rebbe is the world of Moshiach, the world in which the greatest enjoyment is in לא 'יהי עסק כל העולם אלא לדעת את 'ה בלבד!
It starts with simple steps: Learn a maamar or a daf gemoro with an excitement and a geshmack. Immerse yourself into your davening with your entire being with the same excitement as riding on a rollercoaster.
Choose the King, and experience with your entire being the wisdom of your choice, because your only true pleasure is being with your King!
L’chaim! May we each take the necessary steps to choose the King, אנא נסיב מלכא, and may the Eibishter in turn choose us in a clear and revealed manner for all the world to see, with the immediate revelation of Moshiach Tzidkeinu TUMYM!!!
