A great reason of the lengthiness of the Golus
Since Hashem sees Klall Yisroel are fulfilling the Torah and Mitzvos in Golus (exile), with great effort and expense for every Mitzvoh, nevertheless, they do not resent and are Mosser Nefesh in order not to transgress. They carry the yoke of the Mitzvos double fold, with many safeguards and fences since many do not understand, as the hearts have subdued, and it is not understood. And in order not to transgress many stringencies, safeguards have been added and every Yid strives and is stringent to a wonderful level. This shows a great strengthening to our connection and closeness to Hakodosh Boruch Hu.
In contrast if Klall Yisroel were settled peacefully on their land, and not have the tribulations like today, as we have mentioned, as it is with great sacrifice. It is therefore sweet to Hashem before his Heavenly Throne, the length of the Golus, as Hashem rejoices with the fulfilment of the Mitzvos by Klall Yisroel even in situations of hardship, as it is done with happiness, fulfillment, and dedication. Hashem shows his love of Klall Yisroel to the Pamalioh Shel Malloh, and in reward to this no evil prosecutor can open his mouth against them, since Hashem has shown to all his reverence of Klall Yisroel!
Shevet Mussar Perek 51, Ois 7
The Saar Sholom of Belz ZY"A was once walking past a Beis Medrash on Shabbos (Friday) night. He heard the sweet voice of a lad studying Gemoroh (Talmud). He entered the Beis Medrash and in front of him was the sight of a Cantonist (soldiers who were forcefully drafted at a young age to the army of the czar ym"sh). The Cantonist was free from his military duties on Shabbos and was able to spend his time as he wished. Upon seeing this golden sight, the Saar Sholom exclaimed, “Now I know the reason of the lengthiness of the Golus, as when Moshiach comes, Hashem will not have the great satisfaction and situation as this, which is a great Nachas Ruach before Hashem Yisborach.”
