The Medrash (Shmos Rabbah 2:4) states: Hashem said to Moshe ...You are to leave the B’nei Yisroel in the dessert and in the future, you will collect them from the dessert and return them.

Two Ways

Regarding the future redemption the Talmud (Sanhedrin 98a) queries the Possuk (Yeshayohu 60:22) לָאֶלֶף הַקָטֹן יִהְיֶה וְהַצָעִיר לְגוֹי עָצוּם אֲנִי ה׳ בְעִתָהּ אֲחִישֶנָה “The smallest shall become a thousand and the least a mighty nation; I am Hashem, in its time I will hasten it.” “In its time,” indicates that there is a designated time for the redemption, whereas: “I will hasten it,” indicates that there is no set time for the redemption. The Talmud answers: If they merit redemption through repentance and good deeds, I will hasten the coming of the Moshiach. If they do not merit redemption, the coming of the Moshiach will be in its designated time.

At the Designated Time

This verse is from a Possuk (Iyov 28:3): קֵץ שָם לַחשֶךְ וּלְכָל־תַכְלִית הוּא חוֹקֵר אֶבֶן אֹפֶל וְצַלְמָוֶת “He made an end to darkness, and every end He fathoms-a stone of darkness and the shadow of death”.
