When Yaakov saw Yosef, he said: “I never expected to ever see you again, and now Hashem has shown me even your children”. We see how Yaakov Avinu was so full of humble appreciation, and how aware he is of getting more than he anticipates. The same with: קָטֹנְתִי מִכֹל הַחֲסָדִ ים וישלח לב יא I am humbled from all of Hashem’s Chesed, where he remembers how unfortunate he was when: כִי בְמַקְלִי עָבַרְ תִי אֶּת הַיַרְ דֵּן וישלח לב יא he crossed the Yarden with nothing but his stick (with no one else), and now: וְעַתָה הָיִיתִי לִשְנֵּי מַחֲנות his family has grown into two camps. Again and again, this is how Yaakov Avinu talks. “I have more than expected”. This is the way a Yid has to think: “I’m getting more than I ever imagined!”. And that’s why he says: יֶּש לִי כֹל וישלח לג יא I have EVERYTHING! Humble gratitude.
