And because of this, those who receive this 'Chessed' also receive it in a manner of 'Bittul' as Yaakov said in the Possuk: קָטֹנְתִי מִכֹל הַחֲסָדִים וּמִכָל הָאֱמ ת אֲשׁ ר עָשִיתָ א ת עַבְד ךָ כִי בְמַקְלִי עָבַרְ תִי א ת הַיַרְ דֵן הַז ה וְעַתָה הָיִיתִי לִשְׁנֵי מַחֲנוֹת “I have become small from all the kindnesses and from all the truth that You have rendered Your servant, for with my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.”

Atzilus: Which is also only possible as a result of the contraction. Diffidence and 'Bittul: Of Above so to speak. And therefore: Since the whole creation of 'Chessed' of 'Atzilus' is as a result of 'Bittul' above. Ze'eir Anpin itself: That its radiation and influence shine in a fashion of 'Bittul'. According to their Avodah: Because since this 'Chessed' self nullifies and reduces itself, therefore an 'Avodah' from the lower realms has a significance. Because of this: Since the influence of the 'Chessed' (which comes about because of 'Bittul') is through 'Bittul' and diffidence. As Yaakov said: Specifically, because of the magnitude of 'Chessed' that he received as Yaakov says: "With only my staff I crossed this river Yarden and now I have become two camps".

Chessed of Yishmoel and Its Roots

Whereas, [concerning] the effect that the 'Chessed' of Yishmoel has on its recipients is an influence in the manner of vigour and haughtiness, since the cause of its 'Hamshocha' is also from vigour etc. since its root is from the primordial world of 'Tohu', where the Divine light shines vigorously like the greatness of 'Chessed' of within, as is explained earlier at length.

In the Possuk: Bereishis (32:11) קָטֹנְתִי מִכֹל הַחֲסָדִים וּמִכָל הָאֱמ ת אֲשׁ ר עָשִיתָ א ת עַבְד ךָ כִי בְמַקְלִי עָבַרְ תִי א ת הַיַרְ דֵן הַז ה וְעַתָה הָיִיתִי לִשְׁנֵי מַחֲנוֹת “I have become small from all the kindnesses and from all the truth that You have rendered Your servant, for with my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.”

I have become small: Which is very much about diffidence and self-nullification. Chessed of Yishmoel: Which is a vigorous manner of kindness. Vigour: And the haughtiness of the benefactor. For its: The 'Chessed' of the ‘Le’umas Zeh'. World of Tohu: As is explained in Kabbalah and in Chassidus that at the beginning of creation, a spiritual world called ‘Tohu’ was created as part of the process to creating our world. ‘Tohu’ was designed to fail as it had many great lights but only very few vessels. This caused a breakup of the vessels. And the fall of the lost sparks of G-dliness and of holiness into zones which are outside the parameters of holiness. Tohu is unlike all the other worlds called ‘Tikkun’ (rectification) in which the lights settle into their vessels. In other words, the illumination and revelation are correct and operate in an orderly fashion and any departure of light from the vessels would be contrary to the Divine intention. Therefore ‘Tohu’ symbolises unlimited lights that do not conform to limitation or size and therefore do not pervade any vessels. But our world comes from the world of rectification and includes the ability to elevate those lost sparks from the world of Tohu. In the source of things, the source of Tohu is higher than the source of Tikkun.
