The Torah and Mitzvos Are Our Lives

“‘ה אני בהם וחי האדם אתם יעשה אשר משפטי ואת חקתי את ושמרתם” (ה יח)

The Chiddushei HaRim explained: A person must keep Torah and mitzvos in a way that he should feel that his very life depends on Torah learning and performing mitzvos, as we say in the tefillah of Arvis: “Ki heim chayeinu v’orech yameinu.”

And because all of our life depends only on Torah and fulfilling its mitzvos, we say each morning, after Birchos HaTorah, the brachah of Elokai Neshamah, which was instituted in order to thank Hashem for returning our souls to us each morning.
