Travel on Shabbos No Way

Chassidic Story | December 10, 2025

On the Third of Tamuz the Previous Rebbe was given the news that his sentence was commuted to three years exile in Kostroma. And that he would be allowed to visit his family for six hours on Thursday before leaving for exile.

The Rebbe asked when he would arrive in Kostroma.

“On Shabbos,” they answered. The Rebbe responded that he would not travel on Shabbos, no matter what!

Finally, He stayed in jail until Sunday and then visited his home for the promised six hours.
