On 4 Tamuz 5754 (the day after gimmel tamuz), Rabbi Groner contacted the above-mentioned Litvishe Jew. “The Rebbe never wants to be a baal chov ; - to be in debt”, Rabbi Groner told him. “Please tell me the entire amount owing to you, so that I can arrange that you be paid up hastily.”
The lab-owner, however, had other ideas: “I was very clear about what I wanted in exchange for my services,” he said, “I wanted a brocho for children, and that’s still the only payment I require”. Rabbi Groner was taken aback, and responded ‘We’ll see what we can do’ (that’s the way I heard it, I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean either).
Today, Boruch Hashem, the Litvishe lab owner is the proud father of 5 healthy children bli ayin hara (at least that was how many he had at last check)!
Indeed, der Rebbe bleibt nisht kein baal choiv !
