The Purpose of Mitzvos: Making a Dwelling for HaShem in the Lower Realm

In other words, the aim is that HaShem Blessed be He should live and reside down here in the world so that the Possuk will come into fruition, the one which says: “I have come to my garden, my sister, my bride.” Instead of my garden read it as my special place the place where I was predominantly in the beginning.

Additionally, it is called the garden of HaKodosh Boruch Hu which means a place of pleasure and strolling. It is like saying that HaKodosh Boruch Hu is strolling (so to speak) with the B’nei Yisroel. And it can even be said: That this is connected with the concept that the Divine revelation in the world of the future is dependent on our disseminating the wellsprings of the inner dimension of Torah outwardly. This is because the study of the inner dimension of Torah is also called ‘A stroll in the orchard and in the garden’ (as explained by the Rambam).
