Be Satisfied No Matter What

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

RSRH Zatzal calls: וַתִּקְצַר “impatience”. An old problem: וְלֹא שָמְעוּ אֶל משֶה מִקֹצֶר רוּחַ וארא ו ט they could not listen to Moshe as a result of their impatience. Impatience and discontent go together, and are the keys to so many sins; especially the Da'agos and lack of Bitachon that people have. This is a lifetime job; to be satisfied no matter what!

One day I made a Kabala (resolution) B’li Neder (during Bain HaZemanim - the summer break) that I would spend more time in Bais Medrash. Although I was happy that I was M'kayem my Kabala, I was still sad that my Chidushei Torah weren’t accepted as well as I wanted. Guess what occupied my mind the most? The dissatisfaction, and not the Simcha. This is human nature, and especially in Ruchaniyus people feel self-righteous about their Ruchaniyus'dik woes. But it’s wrong!

Basics - Basics

“I’m happy I’m alive, although I don’t always feel so good”
“I’m happy I’m married although it’s not always easy with my spouse”

Basics is the Yesod of the Midda of Hoda'ah, which is life itself. And if people aren’t appreciative, then very earth gets upset, and can swallow people like by Korach.
