The Zohar Hakadosh states that if one recites Birchas Hamazon with kavanah, those brachos accompany him after death and announce before him that he blessed Hashem with kavanah. Sefer Bais Vaad L’Chochomim (Parshas Vayerah) uses this concept to explain the pasuk (Bereishis 21:33) that says that Avrohom planted an “eishel”. The word “eishel” is an acronym for “achilah shesiya levaya” (food, drink and accompaniment), which indicates that by giving them food and drink and teaching them to make brachos, Avrohom provided his guests with accompaniment for the World to Come.
