Sefer Sifsei Kohen (al HaTorah) writes: “I heard that if one makes a bracha on everything he eats and doesn’t put anything into his body without a bracha before and after, his body will not be affected by worms after his death. This is because worms are the result of a curse, as is stated (Devarim 28:39): ‘Because the worms will eat them’, and a bracha is the opposite of a curse... ‘Bracha’ is also the gematriah of ‘kruz’ (an announcement), which indicates that it is announced that no damager will touch the body of one who makes brachos.”
