Demonstrating Our Bond with the Ribbono Shel Olam

Havineini | June 27, 2025

In these exalted days of Sefiras HaOmer, one must be aware that tikkun hamiddos is the avodah hayom, the avodah of these days in which we grow closer to Hashem, and inch closer to kabbalas haTorah. And the opportunities are everywhere: always receive everything with acceptance and patience and with the emunah that everything is from Hashem and is for our good. The more one practices this, the more one’s bond with the Ribbono Shel Olam is strengthened, and the more one becomes worthy of Kabbolas haTorah.

How is a bond between two people demonstrated? It is when there is a nisayon to violate the bond, and a person nevertheless upholds the bond. For example, if someone is sworn to secrecy in a certain matter, and despite all temptation, he upholds the bond of secrecy, this demonstrates and strengthens the bond between him and the other party to the secret.

And the same applies to our bond with HaKadosh Baruch Hu. When there is a yetzer hara that doesn’t leave us alone, but we overcome the temptation, this demonstrates that we have a bond with Hashem. When things are difficult, and we refine ourselves until we overcome them, this strengthens our bond with our Creator, and makes us worthy of shidud ma'arachos and Kabbolas haTorah.
