Avrom's Wealth and Social Involvement

And Avrom was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. {13:2}

Avrom was the first person who acknowledged the One Hashem and taught pure faith. Nevertheless, the Torah does not represent him as a person without material possessions who is totally immersed in the quest for G-Dliness and in heavenly matters, but rather as a person who is socially involved -- a very wealthy property owner with cattle, silver, and gold, who is not separated from the precious things of this world. He had “Torah and material greatness in one place”. His greatness enhanced his crown of Torah so that he could be a pillar of kindness [among men].
