The Dubna Maggid on Bitachon and Cause and Effect

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

A “Yehudi” means a Baal Bitachon, who only wants to impress Hashem, and isn’t involved in public opinion. The Dubna Maggid says that there are people who give Tzedaka like: אַ בֵ לִ ים mourners, since they feel that they are losing money. But a person who has Bitachon realizes that Torah and Mitzvos bring Simcha and Hatzlacha, and the more a person realizes that Hishtadlus for Refua and Parnasa etc. is really controlled by Hashem, the more Hatzlacha he has. People worship: סִ יבוֹת Hishtadlus and “cause & effect”; they don’t realize that Hashem is behind it all. If a person gets on Hashem’s good side, then he’ll come out ahead, and “cause & effect” will work for him, and won’t harm him.

The Dubna Maggid continues that you can make the worst mistakes, and Hashem will twist everything in your favor anyway. The Mitzri'im tried to destroy us, and they ended up raising Moshe, the: מוֹשִ יעָן שֶל יִשְּ רָאֵל person who rescued Klal Yisrael. Haman made gallows to hang Mordechai, and in the end it destroyed him. Mordechai worked only with Hashem, therefore he had Bitachon; and even though it seemed like he was causing trouble, in the end he caused the: יְּמֵי מִשְּתֶה וְּשִמְּחָה Y’mei Mish’teh V'simcha of Purim.
