When a person eats on Erev Yom Kippur, it is considered as if he fasted on that day and the next day. (Gemara). Preparing for the Taanis by eating Erev Yom Kippur is as if you fasted two days!!??! Look how preparing for a Mitzva is Mamash like the Mitzva itself, and even though you’re having a good time eating, it’s as if you are torturing yourself with a two-day Taanis! You’re having fun, yet you’re getting Schar as if you are a great Baal Mesiras Nefesh for Kavod Shamayim! You’re like an: עוֹשֶׁהֵמ ע שֹ הֵז מ ר יֵוּמ ב ק שֵשֹ כ רֵכ פ ינ ח ס (one who commits a crime like Zimri, and demands reward like Pinchos)!
