Every Situation Is Another Stanza in the Song

When we reflect upon this idea—that all our problems are simply vehicles to learn to know the Ribbono shel Olam on a deeper level—we will appreciate that our entire lives are one saga of ולדבקה בו, of deveikus in Hashem. A person’s entire life, with all its difficulties, is one piece of deveikus with the Ribbono shel Olam. He practiced closeness with Hashem throughout his saga—from the מן המיצר קראתי י-ה to ultimately ענני במרחב י-ה... he was always close. It’s all deveikus.

A Yid who understands and appreciates that everything is a new platform and stage for deveikus will rise to daven to Hashem: “Ribbono shel Olam! Help me compose the next stanza in the song I’m singing to you!” Every era in our lives, each of which brings its own unique challenges and nisyonos, is just another stanza in a beautiful song of deveikus—for our entire lives are an extended song of reliance upon Hashem, a song of remembering that Hashem always helps, a song of yearning, a song of humility and remorse and contrition for the things we shouldn’t have done. Every period of our lives adds a new movement in the complete symphony of our lives, expressed with such sweetness throughout the life of a Yid.
