10 Commandments Again

The Parsha Post | June 25, 2025

An entire generation has come and gone since the fateful day when HaShem came down to Mount Sinai to issue the Aseres HaDibros, “The 10 Commandments.” Now, Moshe Rabbeinu repeated them for the entire nation.

“How unusual,” commented Tsemy Tsuchished. “The way my parents taught me was that the reason for keeping Shabbos was because HaShem created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th, but when Moshe told it to us today, he said that it is because we were slaves in Egypt, and now that we are free, we exercise the right to take a day off to serve HaShem, our true Master.”

“Indeed, I also noticed some subtle differences,” added Tsaly Tsumished. “The first time around we were commanded “Zachor es Yom HaShabbos,” to remember Shabbos. But now, Moshe told us “Shamor es Yom HaShabos, to guard the Shabbos. My parents told me that HaShem said both words at once time. Amazing!”

TNS fact checkers have confirmed that there are several other differences between the two versions of the Aseres HaDibros. A tentative appointment is set with Moshe Rabbeinu to gain clarification.
