This week’s chapter of Pirkei Avos (Ethics of the Fathers, which we study on Shabbos afternoons during the summer) begins, “Look at three things...”
“Three” also refers to the third Redemption and the third Beis Hamikdash. “Look” at the Redemption – look into it deeply. This will effect perfection in your service of G-d in all three columns of Torah, service and kindness, done with the three soul-garments of thought, speech and action.
It will also keep you away from sin, as the Mishnah continues, “and you won’t come to the hands of sin”. By focusing on the Redemption, you won’t even come to a possibility for sin. Things that can lead to sin, like lust for permitted pleasures, won’t be there when you are focused on the Redemption. For in the Redemption, “delicacies will be available like dust” – as unimportant to us as dust. The whole world will be occupied with nothing other than knowing G-d.
