The path to hear and receive real encouragement is to speak with our friends about the incredible power of the tzaddik to elevate our souls and shine the light of the Torah into our hearts in a way that transforms us. As the great Breslover chassid, Reb Shimshon Barsky, says on this lesson: “A true tzaddik can rectify and awaken us to feel renewed, so that we strengthen ourselves to be attached to fear of Heaven, live with an awareness of Hashem, and follow the Torah.” The more we build our emunah in the ability of the tzaddik’s Torah to assist us, the more we can speak about it with our friends, until we find the real advice that we need to refresh ourselves at every moment.
In other words, it is not possible to get encouragement from the teachings of the tzaddik unless we first strengthen our belief in the spiritual power of the tzaddik to elevate our souls with the Torah that he reveals. Thus, we must speak with our friends about this amazing power and awaken our awareness of it.
