(Even if we have zero Simcha, since we try and desire more Simcha, we are true Tzaddikim). Bayis Sheini was destroyed because of Sin’as Chinam, despite the tremendous Torah and Chesed the people of that generation were involved in. (Chazal).
The Gr”a says that this “Sin’as Chinam” that caused the Churban means that they were lacking in Bitachon, which was the reason why they were kvetchy and jealous. Again, no Simcha and Bitachon and calm and Fargining; causes Churban, Rachana Litzlan.
How important it is to take out more and more time to value and appreciate, and be B'simcha about ourselves and others. It could make a major difference in our lives! (R' Hutner Zatzal once said, that the reason why: לְפוּם צַעֲרָא אַגְרָא אבות ה כב the reward increases according to your Tza'ar, the extra reward is not for the Tza'ar, rather for the Simcha and appreciation you have for your Ma'asim Tovim that you are demonstrating by your willingness to undergo Tza'ar (distress), but the main Schar is for Simcha).
