TRUE STORY
A woman was worried about getting a cleaning lady to clean for Pesach, since her own had suddenly quit on her just when she was most needed! Her husband davened hard that she should get another one (mainly because he knew that if his wife didn’t get a good replacement, then he would have to be the “cleaning lady”!)
He finally got one, who promised to come the next day at 8:00am. His wife was very apprehensive... “Will she come? ...” “Is she really good?” ... etc. She never stopped worrying (וְהָגִיתָ בוֹ יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה). Sure enough, the next day the cleaning lady didn’t show up. Her husband told her: חֶרְ דַת אָדָם יִת ן מוֹק שׁ משלי כט כה those who worry invite problems.
He davened hard, and she finally showed up at 11:00! הָאֱלֹקִ ים עָשָה אֶת הָאָדָם יָשָׁר וְה מָּה בִקְשׁוּ חִשְבֹנוֹת רַבִים קהלת ז כט Hashem created Man straight and simple, but their Yetzer Hara enticed them to seek complications. People don’t realize how many problems they create for themselves by their worries. However, if you’re the type that can’t control your worrisome nature, don’t feel bad. You may be getting tremendous: תִ יקוּנִ ים refinements for your pain, and it’s all L'tovah.
I heard in the name of R' Elya Weintraub Zatzal that people should not expect to get everything they want in this world; it’s not happening! And most people do expect, and therefore so many people suffer. A Goy once said: “Most of us are in a constant state of quiet desperation”. א ין אָדָם מ ת וַחֲצִי תַאֲוָתוֹ בְיָדוֹ קהלת רבה א לב A person does not get even half of his desires during his lifetime.
This is all very true. However, a person who works hard on Bitachon, and spends extra time and Kochos to acquire this Midda (and he even is Moser Nefesh for Bitachon, by taking away time from his work, and even being: מְ מַ ע ט cutting down in his basic learning) can expect a totally different Hashgacha. 'הצִלְּךָ תהלים קכא ה. Hashem is (like) your shadow. The more you are involved with Him, the more He shows you His involvement. (R' Zundel of Salant).
The true Baalei Bitachon don’t go by the general rules.
