Leaving Mitzrayim Means Becoming Free from The Yetzer Hara

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

Hagar remains a Mitzris despite her high Madrega. Perhaps because: וַתִּקַח לוֹ אִמּוֹ אִשָה מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם כא כא she chose a wife for Yishmael from Eretz Mitzrayim. If she could go back to her Treife roots, and get a Shidduch from there for her son Yishmael, then we know that she never really left lowlife Mitzrayim. מֵיצַר Meitzar means boundary, because in מִצְרַיִם Mitzrayim they are all trapped under the power of the Yetzer Hara. They have no control!

Paroh is the name of all Mitzri kings, and if a person is: פָ רוּעַ free and wild, then even though he may “seem” happy and free, the truth is that he is still in a jail, since he still is trapped under his Yetzer. The whole idea of Yetzias Mitzrayim is leaving and being free of the Yetzer Hara (from the: מ"ט שַעֲרֵי טוּמְאָה 49 gates of Tum'ah).
