On the day before Yom Kippur, one should eat and drink a lot, two days’ worth. Whoever eats and drinks on the day before Yom Kippur is considered to have fasted for two days. The literal meaning of this saying in the original has the meaning that the Torah elevates the person to the level of the World to Come, in which there is no eating and drinking. In the Redemption, we will have this high level, while at the same time having the eating and drinking of the feast of the Redemption, as on the day before Yom Kippur.
