Learn to Love What Is Good, And to Hate Sin

TRUE STORY
A Yungerman had no control over his base lusts and desires, despite his many Tefilos and Mussar and Gedarim (safeguards), etc. Then, he started writing a: קוּנְ טְ רֵּ ס paper about the wickedness, ugliness, and stupidity of his Ta'avos. He kept blowing up all the Chesronos (pros and cons) and he kept telling himself how nauseating it is, and how much he truly hates it. This saved him. As a child, I wasn’t in the habit of saying the Bracha of HaMapil before going to sleep, until my father Zatzal explained to me the beauty of its words. You can do this to get people to become Masmidim in learning Torah and Zikkui HaRabbim and Baalei Tzedaka. (see Chazon Ish).

You elaborate and glorify all positive details, and you make believe “I love this”! אֹהֲבֵי ה' שִ נְאוּ רָע תהלים צז י Those who love Hashem, hate evil. Learn to love what is good and to hate sin, and you’ll have a much easier life. That way, your heart is in your religion, instead of forcing yourself against your will.
